Industrial Civil Construction Contractor specializing in structural concrete and sitework/earthwork looking for a Line & Grade Surveyor.

Job Summary

Under the direction of Project Management, a Line & Grade Surveyor will provide the back and muscle for the installation of layout on a project.  Line & Grade Surveyor will utilize Leica robotics with the use of all survey equipment such as story poles, levels, transits and lasers.  Must understand the importance of being accurate and precise.  Must also maintain working relationship with foremen and crews and understand the different types of equipment used by the trades. Must have current TWIC card.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for survey calculations, analysis, as-builts and pre-pour concrete checkouts.
  • Verifies the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Checks field crews at project locations for job-related problems.
  • Checks on special requests and complaints as requested by project management.
  • Sets-up, cleans and maintains surveying equipment and supplies
  • Orders supplies as needed
  • Stores equipment to prevent damage/theft
  • Ensures area where control is being installed is clean and acceptable
  • Participates in the layout of work by holding the end of the tape, level rod, prism pole, plumb bob or other similar tools
  • Drives stakes, hubs and grade nails
  • Aligns and plumbs all types of forms
  • Assists in the setting of anchor bolts and imbeds.
  • Verifies layout to ensure no misalignments or inaccuracies by coming off of a different control point/line
  • Assists in checking accuracy of surveying equipment through pegging, double-centering or other methods.
  • Performs work with persistence for perfection (close doesn’t count)

Qualified Candidate:

  • Has demonstrated experience with construction surveying.
  • Must possess the skills to work effectively and efficiently within a team and coordinate work activities.
  • Must demonstrate strong math skills that includes the practical use of algebra and trigonometry.
  • Must be willing to work in all kinds of weather and working conditions. (Work is a combination of office and field environments. Must be willing to assume the physical risks of working in an outdoor environment which includes but is not limited to traffic, construction equipment and wildlife.) 
  • Must have ability to exert physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Be able to pass hair follicle drug screen and background check
